Company background and experience

Our roots go back over 150 years to 1852. Originally known as Negretti and Zambra, the company founders pioneered research into the relationship between barometric pressure and height above sea level using hot air balloons.

Renowned as leading developers of scientific instruments, Negretti & Zambra produced the barometers, cameras, binoculars, thermometers and meteorological instruments still sought after today.

Since the early 1960s we have produced altimeters, airspeed indicators, airspeed accelerometers and indicators using traditional electro-mechanical technology. This experience has enabled us to direct considerable engineering invention and resource into the developement of our current avionics range.

Innovative products such as the secondary flight display have received wide acclaim within the industry and have made a significant contribution to the evolution of the modern cockpit.  Our current ranges harness advanced digital processing and display techniques, supported by proven qualifications as a leading supplier of solid-state instrumentation.

Our products have been developed to meet specific customer requirements including:

  • Secondary Flight Display™
  • Solid-state air data unit
  • Solid-state magnetometer
  • Solid-state altimeter system
  • Air data, attitude heading reference system (ADAHRS)
  • Integrated health and usage systems (IHUMS)
  • Air data computers
  • Data acquisition systems
  • Flight data recorders
  • Life support systems
