Meggitt Avionics roots go back to the late 1800s when the partnership of H Negretti and L J Zambra was at the forefront of meteorological instrument design. Negretti Aviation came into being when the aviation product range was separated from the industrial division. It went on to make a number of acquisitions including the UK division of Kollsman Instruments, the aviation division of British Oxygen and the airborne camera product line from AGI. Negretti Aviation was bought by Meggitt PLC in 1985. The Negretti name was dropped in favour of Meggitt branding in 1995 and has traded as Meggitt Avionics since.
